When One Life Event leads to your Passion with Janenne Dorsey

It is a known fact that certain life events can result in major changes in a person's life. Many times the death of a loved one, marriage, relationship issues, changes in circumstances and conditions of employment, illness are examples of major life events.  For Janenne Dorsey it was her father's illness.  As she became a primary caregiver her nursing skills became even more necessary, this one event led to her realizing that her caregiving could lead to a unique business idea. 
 This paradigm shift for Janenne is the topic of our conversation. We discuss her ability to multitask as she pursues her passion while being a mother and wife. We talk about circumstances that are created but that we can't control, and how to turn them into strengths. 
 How it was that taking care of her father lead to a mobile laboratory.  The advent of Covid created such a need for personalized care and Janenne realized this and found a way to serve her patients with the Finest Care.

Unboxing a Toxic Relationship

In a very intimate and introspective episode, Alicia and Angelica share their own toxic relationship story.  After days of following the Gabby Petito case, we felt compelled to share how we were affected and possibly triggered to relive our own toxic story.
The Toxic relationship starts innocent enough, sweet and innocent.  But as the years go by it changes, and the changes took a turn for the worse when I began to grow and change.  My education and my experiences changed me from the young woman of 16 who was ambitious to the one at 21 who had reached one of her biggest goals, a college education. 
In this episode, I recount to my friend Angelica how I was mentally and emotionally abused by an ex-boyfriend. The abuse I endured in private-led me to fight back and consequently force me to leave my childhood home.

A Love Letter to my Sandwich Generations!

So many of us in Generation X have the challenge of taking care of our parents and our children simultaneously.  We can quite easily become stressed and overwhelmed by the tasks of handling doctors appointments, insurance claims and schooling for our kids. This episode is a love letter to you my fellow sandwiches.  You who do it all and who have to do it all with the best of your abilities.  I'm here for you!
I had the pleasure of including my amazing friend Jackie Gil to give you all a few tips for handling the responsibilities of our sandwich generation. We talk about burnout, self care and mental health.  Sharing our experiences with others makes a world of a difference as you will listen on, we really believe in that! 
The sandwich generation can often experience caregiver burnout and feelings of depression, guilt and isolation. It also creates a conflict finding the time to be a good spouse, parent, and child simultaneously. Another conflict is managing work, hobbies, relationships and time for themselves.
Let's give ourselves the grace to be the best we can be!

She will not go one day without some form of exercise, and we discuss why that high from her workouts fuels her day and ultimately her life!
