Hey! I'm heading out of town and I'd love for you to join me in this episode as I prep for my fabulous trip!

Oh, just two daddy's girls talking all things father/daughter dynamics. Reena and I became quick friends when we both mentioned in an intro conversation that our dads are our best buddies!
My guest Reena Friedman Watts has lived quite a full life. She’s worked on reality TV shows like The Jerry Springer Show, Court TV, and Nanny 911. She's been on the radio, planned mega-events for the telecom and finance industries and now she hosts an incredibly successful show Better Call Daddy. Her father Wayne Freidman is her mentor, guide, and podcast side-kick.
We go in deep into our growth stories, and the lessons our dads have imparted over the years. When she calls her dad he's ready to provide support and confidence, when I call mine I'm ready to laugh and get over my bullshit real quick.

We are excited to endorse a local Latina on the Rise, a woman with ambition, and the smarts to match, and a new friend, Lesley Briones, Candidate for County Commissioner Pct 4.
In this episode, we talk about her background and upbringing, the values that she learned from her mother and father, and how they've become essential as she approaches every challenge she takes on.
We talked about her years at Harvard University and how being "terca" or stubborn gave her the impetus to pursue an Ivy League education. We talk about the struggles of running for office while being a wife, a mother of two girls, a judge, a nonprofit leader, and adjunct faculty.
Our conversation ends with a commitment to encourage everyone that their vote counts, that we are the change we want to see, and no matter how much the system tries to block our access we should make it our duty to get ourselves and others out to vote!

I've been wanting to do an episode on vulnerability but of course in true Alicia fashion, I've been avoiding it. I avoid vulnerability because I'm very protective of my private space. I wish I could tell you more about the insides of my being but that would mean I'd let go of my protective safety bubble. So, I'm working on it. I want to get out of my comfort zone and become more vulnerable. This is a personal episode of my family, my parents, my fears, and my anxieties. It's not an easy episode for me but I feel it can be helpful to someone who thinks that I have a "perfect" life. I don't. Struggles don't discriminate and I'm one to suffer in silence.
